My PokéRogue Addiction: A Wave 2300+ Review!
#1
Hey fellow Pokémon fans! I'm officially hooked on Pokerogue and Pokerogue Dex , and I've plunged deep into the endless mode—currently sitting pretty at wave 2300+ in my hunt for a Mewtwo! It's been a wild ride, and I figured it’s time to share my thoughts on what makes this game so addictive and what could make it even better.
The Good Stuff
First off, the endless mode is absolutely brilliant. It’s got that "just one more wave" quality that keeps me coming back for hours. The fact that Pokémon can learn moves they wouldn't normally have? Genius! It adds a layer of unpredictability and fun that I totally dig. Also, who doesn't love seeing massive numbers? The damage, level scaling—it’s all incredibly satisfying. And the addition of more shiny variants for Pokémon with bag shinies? Chef’s kiss! The gameplay loop is just so fluid and easy. Perfect for a quick burst or a long marathon session.
Opportunities for Improvement
Now, let’s talk about a few things that could use some love. The enemy damage reduction and damage tokens are a bit much. It’s frustrating to be 30,000+ levels higher than an enemy and still get one-shotted. It feels like there should be a cap or diminishing returns on those tokens. Maybe an uncapped system for player stat-boosting items could level the playing field? Also, more items in each tier, especially master tier, would be great. Once you have a full set, they become less impactful, and that feels like a missed opportunity.
Team Diversity and Legendary Hunting
I'd love to see more team diversity in endless mode. Right now, it’s all about one powerhouse Pokémon. An item that could temporarily boost a selected Pokémon to the same level as your highest would be a game changer for that. Lastly, the legendary gacha is a bit of a pain. Being able to target the legendary you want would save a ton of time and make the hunt for specific Pokémon less grindy.
Overall, PokéRogue is incredible. It's scratched that itch that only the best ROM hacks and fan-made games can. Despite a few gripes, I'm completely hooked and can't wait to see what's next!
